This month of September I plan to do Booty Barre 2-3 times a week and also an Agility class 2 times a week. This is at Agility Fitness Experience in Venice, Florida. It is a physical therapy center on one side and a BIG open fitness area on the other with an astro turf type grassy area - weights - benches - sandbags- TRX bands, medicine balls, ab rollers, stability balls, sleds, HUGE tug of war type ropes and a lot more!!
The Agility class is FULL BODY timed intervals with a timed resting transition. Then moving through stations of different workouts. Get READY for KIMBERLY!! She is very cool - down to earth and grounding. She really drives you through each work out and is such a nice person! I like the energy in this establishment because I don't feel judged or looked down upon from more fit people! You can tell they are just really good people and want you to do your best!
example: 30 seconds ON - 10 seconds transition. 4 complete sets. jump rope, weighted side step lunges, push ups, kettlebell swings. I do as many as I can while the 30 seconds is ON! then switch to the next movement after my 10 second rest. . . and man that 10 seconds comes quick when you start to fatigue!
We also did a circuit like this for abs to start everything off. regular crunches then bicycle moves then lower leg raises.
- Then we moved to the weights section and did bulgarians? - One leg weighted lunges. I held 8 lb weights and put one leg extended behind me up on a weight bench and lunged - 30 seconds switch to other leg.. then weights down and 30 seconds jump squats. this was rinse repeat 4 cycles.
- Then we moved over to the TRX bands. I LOVE THESE THINGS!!!!!
Take everything you do then instantly make it more difficult by doing them on the bands LOL! IE push ups and pull ups. The instability of using the bands forces you to engage your core to stay strong and steady.
Then we moved onto another 4 set up stations thing 40 seconds on 10 seconds transition. First was throwing a 12 lv medicine ball up against the wall. At first this seemed kind of weak and silly but HAHAHAHA killer arms once you get into the cycle! 40 secons up then move to 40 seconds high knees - then 40 seconds chair position swinging these huge ropes that look like tug of war ropes. This was so freaking hard. -
then 40 seconds pushing a 35 lb sled around the astro turf grass like gym floor. The point was to lengthen and extend the body flatter to more of a plank position and push this sled so you need to really dig in with the legs - killer!
- then back around to the medicine ball! - all this 4 times through!
-
we started with abs we finish with abs! Though this time it was on a big stability ball. left side crunch ups then right - then center - then something COOL I've never done before.
flat on the back stability ball between the ankles, lift the legs and drop the stability ball and catch with your ankles again - that is a fantastic lower ab workout!!!
-
then we took some time to stretch out and roll out on the foam rollers since we felt kind of beat up from previous classes tried in the week! for me it was the booty barre and for Anna it was her first Agility class!
- Oh yes if I mention WE- I'm talking about US! THE TEAM!!! in an older post I explain about THE TEAM! lol . The team consists of just me and my lifelong sisterly friend Anna! I met her when I was 5 years old! She lived across the street from me and we grew up together!
We have so much fun planning and tweaking our workouts and finding new workouts that challenge us.
Here is a pic of us last November! one of my favorites -at my bachelor/bachelorette party!! Matt and I had a joint one cause we wanted to be with all our friends and neither of us are into strip clubs LOL.
Anyway!!- Anna and I are splitting the week between tues thurs Agility class and then Booty barre.2-3 times a week with maybe checking out pilates or yoga to see!
- I love the combination of big challenging driving and strong movements blended with another day of barre class that has rhythm and beauty as well as good over all stretching.
- This will be Septembers workouts!!!!And hopefully to continue through the next few months upping the ante for challenge and fun!
Love this class too! What a workout!
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing better than a workout partner. They really keep you moving and motivated. I call my running partner "my soul-mate". Now, I am married and very much in-love w/ my husband, but my runner partner is my soul sister! She rocks! We keep each other honest about our running workouts, and we really, really challenge each other. We always do our long runs together. And we train for races together. My favorite thing to do w/ my running buddy is to run races. She always seems to bring out the best in me and pushes me just a bit more when I have nothing in the "tank". You and Anna are very inspiring.
Wow! Intense! I think I remeber reading lulumum doing something like this too. Exhausting, just reading about it.
ReplyDeleteToo true, in regards to a workout partner. We have this early morning class, at 6am. We carpool. There are 2 or up to 4 of us that ride together. All of us agree that if it's not for the fact that we have to pick up/or being picked up by one of us, it will be too easy to just roll around and stay in bed! We motivate and encourage each other. Always watching out for each other. :) Workout buddies are the best! Keep going girls!!!
