Hi there! - Posting this pic because it feels like I spend most of my life in a sweaty ponytail!!!!
LOL
Anyway - I hope your Thanksgiving was fantastic I know mine was!! I started off the day with my favorite people at Agility. We did a TURKEY BURN!!!!
I arrived at 6:00 am where several others were also gathering for some pre-feasting damage control!
We started the morning off with a 5k run through lovely Venice Florida back neighborhoods and arrived back to begin what I can only describe as - INTENSE!!!!!
- About 72 people showed up - perhaps 40ish for the run but over all 72 arrived! What a great turn out for a holiday! - It was free but donation for local shelter appreciated. I brought several cans of butternut squash soup and tins of chunk chicken.
SO anyway -after 5k we had a short yoga session with a series of stretches and breathing. Then our entire group was broken into 3 major stations. At each station we had 6 activities and those stations were broken into 3 groups. 2, 2 and 2. Each activity was 40 seconds ON and 10 seconds transition/recover. Finish with abs. It was hilarious because the last 10 seconds of the abs the ENTIRE ROOM was doing a countdown like it was New Years Eve!!!! We had SUCH a GREAT TIME! The flow and energy of the room was fantastic.I hope they do this again next year!!!
The above photo is much like my daily workout. It varies daily. Sometimes more arms other days more legs. Some days more cardio other days more strength. But it is always a good mix up that kicks my ass!!! Usually its a half mile warm up run. This past week I've increased my intensity by arriving early to go for a run with my friend Jen - it is a 2.22 mile run. I don't think I would normally be UP for this but after the Turkey Burn I see it can be done!! - I just need to adjust and adapt a few things.
I'm not much for eating before working out because I don't like that feeling of food or liquid sloshing around inside me - especially since we do so many up and down jumpy things. But I've learned that I need - NEED the fuel. I was a ZOMBIE tuesday trying to make it through my Agility workout after the running. So Weds and Thurs I made sure to get some scrambled eggs in about an hour before run - and felt like I had more gas in the tank.
I really want to focus on increasing my speed for the Princess half marathon feb 24. I think in the past I would have done a 3 mile run and felt like it was a great workout and I'm all done for the day . .. . but something has changed!!! - Now I don't feel like things are complete unless I add in a total body workout that addresses each of the following : core conditioning - endurance - speed-and strength. I listen to my body more now. - Like today. Instead of working out hard I'm taking it easy. I have a kind of dead leg feel and know that I need to chill. . . Tomorrow is a 5k race and I don't want to be zombie for that! Sunday I'll chill then Monday-Thurs go back in and kill it.
Who knows though - some times I take weds off - other days a mon. Its never two days back to back though. There must always be a NOTHING day followed by a lighter day. Then I don't tweak out and feel like I'm running on empty or about to snap.
-I mean the whole idea is to feel great and look great right?! I'm so happy doing all this. I don't know where I'm going - I only know that I'm ON THE WAY!!!!
Alright - I will post after the 5k tomorrow! take care
